Back from DLP and man it was great

Had a fantastic time at Disneyland Paris for 6 days .. and it was GREAT !!!

So the Highs and Lows of the trip ..

Lows:
Princess Pavillion – Lovely looking BUT be prepared to wait 2 hours for princesses – the shortest time I ever saw the queue was 60 mins and that was an hour before it was due to close. It opens at 10:30am and people we queueing from 9am !!! We did wait 2 hours to see a princess, but only the once – IMO I would rather pay and have a decent meal at Auberge and see 3 or 4 princesses for 2 hours (which we did)

Disney Village – was rammed all day and night every day we were there .. waited over an hour to be served in Mc Donalds .. most other eateries had over an hours wait for a table and some were only seating people that had pre made reservations earlier on in the day – IF YOU ARE THINKING OF EATING AT CAFE MICKEY … BOOK BEFORE YOU GO .. don’t risk leaving it – we ate there on the monday and wanted to re-book for the thursday and it was FULL

Pirates being Closed – Pirates was shut the whole week – but also was the shop, the restaurant and the Captain Jack Meet and Greet .. with BTM and the Riverboats also being closed the whole area was a bit pants .. although it was failry quiet none of the little cafes were open either :/

Highs :

Staying at the DLH – the Disneyland Hotel was fantasic .. rooms were a little larger than a standard disney hotel room, we had his n hers sinks which was nice and a slightly large bathroom and a bit more storage. Our little balcony over looked the hotel garden and I could see the tower of terror from it .. we heard the screams which put a smile on my face. Breakfast is grand in the DLH, just as busy enless you get in first or at about 10am. Just being so close to the parks was worth the extra money for me – having a small person with me all day, I am going to stay there again.

Meet and Greets – DLH was super for meet and greets, and we also had some random ones – seeing rafiki outside the hakuna matata was a bonus, also tweedledum and tweedledee by the walk-way between fantasyland and discoveryland – managed to see Pinocchio at the DLH too

Character meals – we did 3 and they were all brilliant -
Auberge – we had Cinderella and Prince Charming, Suzie and Perla, Belle and Snow white – the food was superb and Emily ate a suprising amount of it.

Cafe Mickey – always brilliant fun (although expect to queue even with a reservation), we saw stitch, mickey, minnie, pluto, eeyore, goofy, geppetto, captain hook, chip and dale – we had 3 courses and spent well over 2 hours in there .. brilliant .. BUT BOOK BEFORE YOU GO or you may be disapointed.

Inventions – I love this meal – the food is amazing and the service top notch – Minnie, Mickey, Gideon, Goofy, Tigger, Eeyore and Pluto.

We had a great time, although 6 days was one day too many 5 would have been enough, we just chilled really on the last day – hit the park early – we were the first people in on the Friday morning and the first to ride peter pan went for a late breakfast, then strolled about rode star tours for the 11th time of the trip, rode the train then had a very civalised cup of tea in the Fantasia bar.

I am already planning my post Xmas trip – with Just me and Emily We would live there if we could – can’t wait to go back – wonder if Disney need a WebSphere person ;)

Happy 10th Birthday Walt Disney Studios Park

DLP Studios park turned 10 years old today

There was a day of rather muted celebrations today, never the less the Studios has become a great addition to DLP – the up-and-coming Ratatouille dark ride coming in 2014 and more work possible on revamping other parts of the Studios there is much to look forward over the next couple of years.

I am off to DLP for 6 days on Sunday so will report on how constuction and revamps are going – DLP needs some serious investment – it is an awesome place.

New Meal Plans announced for DLP

Wow – looks like DLP are really *getting with it* and are offering a full board plan as well as half board now

DLP Mealplans

Full Board
You’ll be given 2 Meal Vouchers per person per night of your stay.

For Standard Meal Plans:

The 1st Meal Voucher (recommended for lunch) allows you to enjoy 1 Main Course, 1 Side Order, 1 Dessert and 1 Drink (Soft Drink 33cl or Water 50cl) at a large choice of Counter Service restaurants within the Disney Parks.

The 2nd Meal Voucher (recommended for dinner) allows you to enjoy an Unlimited Buffet OR Set Menu (1 Starter, 1 Main Course, 1 Dessert) PLUS 1 Drink (Soft Drink 33cl or Water 50cl) at any of the available restaurants according to the Meal Plan tier chosen.

For Plus and Premium Meal Plans:

Note that although, for Standard Meal Plans, the recommended option is to use the 1st Meal Voucher for lunch, this is not a requirement.

You could instead use the 2nd Meal Voucher first, giving you lunch at a Buffet or Table Service restaurant, and enjoy the 1st Meal Voucher for a smaller Counter Service meal later in the day, as long as it is before the parks close (this voucher cannot be redeemed at hotel restaurants).

NOTE:
For guests staying at Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch all Meal Plans also include breakfast, which from 29th March 2012 is not included in the standard package price for this accommodation (it remains to be offered, as standard, at all other Disney Hotels)
.

It also looks as though Breakfast is not included at the Davy Crockett from the end of March 2012

all the details can be found here over at DLRP Magic.

DLP Fan Survey

DLP Fan SurveyAt last Disneyland Paris are asking fans what they think

The Official Online Survey is running now and until the 12th of December 2011

If you are a Disney fan and enjoy visting please fill it in and give DLP an idea what us Disney fans in Europe would like to see.

The questions range from general how many Disney films do you own kind of questions to more specific questions relating to visiting the park, what you would like to see etc.

How great would it be if DLP considered something like the D23 Expo in the US ?

The survery takes between 10 and 20 mins depending on how detailed you are with your answers and is well worth it.

Please pass it on to anyone you know that is a Disney fan the more feedback they get the better- you do not have to fill in any personal details, just gener and age range, but it is optional for you to leave your email address for a possible follow up.

You can take the Survery here

DLP’s 20th Birthday brochure now available

As announced on the DLRP Today website the 20th Anniversary brochure is now available.

It has been spotted in UK Travel agents although I haven’t seen a copy yet – BUT it is available in all its glory from the Disneyland Paris website HERE.

20th Anniversary

The highlight is bound to be the new Dreams night time show – due to take over at the castle – with extended opening hours reported between 1st of April and 30th of September – although we have been assured the Dreams show will run for the entire 20th Anniversary year. The mastermind behind Dreams is Steve Davison and the team behind the World of Colour show – its bound to be an amazing experience for every Disney fan young and old.

We have coming for this 20th year a new meet and great – to go along with the new Princess Pavilion meet and greet experience a  new magician-themed permanent meet ‘n’ greet for Mickey is advertised simply as Meet Mickey Mouse – details here at DLRP Today.

A new parade – a re-working of the Once Upon a Dream Parade – billed as Disney Magic on Parade, is bound to be a show stopper and a highlight of any trip. If there is one thing Disney do well it’s the parades.

I am really looking forward to the 20th anniversary – our next trip to DLP is just before the new season kicks off, so I am hoping to get some sneaky peaks into what is coming up, we are planning a Christmas break in the 20th year to catch the Anniversary and Christmas in one go – I for one can not wait :)
